The essence of the valley,
in a weekend.
Brazil's most beautiful trek, in the heart of the Chapada Diamantina National Park. This is the shortest version of the crossing: the same first and last days as the 3-day route, without the Castelo Hill day.
On day one, the Rampa Overlook — the classic view of the valley — and a swim at the Funis, Altina and Bananeiras waterfalls, with dinner and a night in the house of the valley natives. On day two, the Cachoeirão Overlook, the Gerais do Rio Preto and the Aleixos descent to the car. Ideal if you are short on time and do not want to leave the Pati for later.
When to walk the Pati?
Summer and Autumn
Jan – May- Full waterfalls, maximum water volume

Breakfast and dinner prepared at the lodgings, a generous menu that changes every day. On the walks, a balanced picnic. Breakfast on day 1 is not included — have it in Lençóis before departure.

Day 1
12 kmModerate7:00 departure from Lençóis → 9:00 Vila do Guiné (2h drive) → 3h of trail (1h steep ascent + 2h flat) to the Mirante da Rampa → +1h30 to the Funis, Altina and Bananeiras waterfalls → 17:00 lodging → 19:00 dinner.
The steep ascent is the first thing the Pati asks of you.
Day 2
23 kmModerate8:00 farewell to the Pati → 3h to the Mirante do Cachoeirão (+280 m; in the rainy season, up to 16 waterfalls around the valley) → snack → Gerais do Rio Preto → Aleixos descent → 80 km transfer → ~19:00 in Lençóis.
The longest day of the trip, but technically easy.
Before the activity
Check the checklist on this page. The most important items are a long-sleeve shirt (there is a lot of sun), hiking boots or similar, a raincoat and a good backpack.
You can arrive the day before the trek. We suggest booking accommodation without breakfast, because the guesthouses serve it quite late. In Lençóis, near our office, there are good spots for breakfast from 6:00 am.
You can also arrive on the day of the activity: take the overnight bus from Salvador to Lençóis, which arrives around 6:00 am. The seats on the lower deck are a little more expensive and very comfortable — but it is still a bus.
During the activity, you can leave your extra luggage at our office, at no extra cost.
After the activity
You should arrive in Lençóis around 7:00 pm. Delays can happen due to highway traffic and the group’s pace.
At the agency you can take a shower and leave your luggage while you have dinner before your bus, if you need to.
