Yes, and especially so for visitors. Whoever arrives finds welcoming, helpful people. The town has an independent military police battalion, an independent environmental police company, a municipal guard and a civil police station, with low rates of theft and robbery.

Before you come, when you book and out on the trail. If your question is not here, we answer on WhatsApp.
Before you come
The town, how long to stay, how to prepare and the best season for each kind of trip.
Ideally at least 7 days. In 3 you can see the attractions closest to Lençóis. Remember the Chapada gathers around 24 towns with attractions spread among them — choose carefully where to visit and where to stay.
The valley is large enough to take more than 8 days of walking if you want to see all of it. The most sought-after itineraries are the 3-day one and the 5-day traverse. It is a versatile trek, reachable through different villages and towns.
On fitness: exercise at least 3 times a week, focusing on aerobic and cardiovascular work. On gear: closed shoes, a backpack of 40 L or more, a cap or hat, long-sleeved UV50+ shirts, swimwear, flip-flops and something to sleep in.
It depends on what you are after. To see the waterfalls at maximum volume, come in summer or autumn — the trails become considerably harder and more technical, and a local guide becomes essential. To walk without the extra challenge, come between winter and spring.
A very personal opinion. Ours: Mixila Waterfall, Fumaça Waterfall from Below, Fumacinha Waterfall and the Pati Valley.

We work with a network of partners. If a tour is passed on to another operator, the prices charged may vary with the number of participants, the type of tour and the logistics required — they may match our counter price, or be adjusted up or down.
By booking with us, you agree that where a tour is passed on, delivery of the service becomes the responsibility of the designated operator. Our role is to broker the booking and ensure that what was contracted is delivered; we are not liable for price differences identified after booking.
Safety
Who leads, what gear we carry and what no operator can rule out.
The mammoth protects the herd. Always.
Local trekking guides, trained in pre-hospital first aid (APH) and in minimum guiding competencies (CMC, to Brazilian ABNT standards), some with WAFA certification — ask us about availability. All carry a remote-area first-aid kit. The protocols start before the tour, in the intake form every participant fills in.
Risks and limitations — please read
Every trail has its own risks — technical stretches, river crossings, sun exposure. They are described on each itinerary page, in the same safety block.
In operation we carry portable radios and the two-way SPOT X satellite communicator, with an S.O.S. button for extreme situations.

This is not a 100% safe activity. Even with every precaution, mishaps and accidents can happen — as in virtually any adventure activity in a natural environment: venomous animals, falls causing fractures and grazes, storms, flooding. Mechanical failures in the transport can also delay or alter the itinerary.
The activity takes place in wilderness, where rescue can be slow: help may take more than 5 hours to arrive, and the cost of the rescue falls to the participant — it is not included in the booking.
During the activity, follow the team’s instructions strictly. Carrying every mandatory item on the checklist is essential: missing any one of them makes participation impossible.
